Prabowo Subianto, President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, recently had a meeting with the leader of Qatar, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar. The meeting took place on Wednesday (15/5).
During the meeting, Prabowo extended his well wishes to Emir Sheikh Tamim, hoping for his continued health, prosperity, and success, as well as the advancement and prosperity of Qatar. Accompanying Prabowo was Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The main focus of the discussion was on enhancing relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of defense.
Emir Sheikh Tamim also expressed his hopes for further development in the bilateral relationship with both Prabowo and Gibran. Following this meeting, Prabowo and Gibran also met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
During this meeting, discussions revolved around developments in Gaza and the Palestinian occupied territories. Prabowo expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relations and friendship between Indonesia and Qatar for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Other dignitaries present at the Amiri Diwan Palace to welcome Prabowo and Gibran included Qatar’s Minister of Defence, H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Chief of the Amiri Diwan, H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
