Cadets from the Royal Military College-Duntroon (RMC-D) in Australia visited the Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang and expressed their admiration for the discipline and hard work demonstrated by the Indonesian cadets. This visit was part of the signing of an enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between Indonesia and Australia, attended by Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Richard Marles, and Indonesia’s Defense Minister, Prabowo Subianto.
Australian cadets, including Maxwell Jon Kiernan and Lola Kathleen May Charles, were impressed by the strong work ethic and dedication of the Indonesian cadets at Akmil. They participated in various activities during their nine-day visit, such as mentoring sessions, English language classes, and visits to cultural landmarks like Borobudur and Prambanan temples.
Captain Damon Radford, an exchange officer accompanying the Australian cadets, highlighted the importance of the Foreign Academy Exchange Program (FAEP) in fostering cooperation between Australia and Indonesia. He mentioned that Minister Prabowo Subianto was one of the first participants in the FAEP at RMC-D in 1974, emphasizing the mutual benefits of such exchanges in improving skills and collaboration between the two countries.
The program will continue with Indonesian cadets visiting Australia from October 10-21, further strengthening the relationship and partnership between the cadets from both countries.
