National Children’s Day in Indonesia is more than just a yearly event; it serves as a crucial platform for implementing tangible measures to ensure the welfare of the nation’s children. President Prabowo Subianto is committed to this cause, with the government launching three key programs aimed at enhancing children’s well-being: Nutritious Free Meals (MBG), Free Health Checkups (CKG), and School Revitalization.
Senior Expert Dedek Prayudi from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) highlighted the significance of these programs. MBG, or Makan Bergizi Gratis, goes beyond feeding children; it focuses on providing them with essential nutrients for proper growth and development. Shockingly, 60% of school-aged children attend school without having breakfast, leading to issues like lack of focus and iron deficiency anemia, which can impact cognitive abilities significantly.
In addition to MBG, the government is implementing Free Health Checkups for students, covering various health aspects like height, weight, vision, and mental health. This initiative aligns with the constitutional mandate to ensure the right to health for every citizen, including children.
Furthermore, the School Revitalization Program aims to renovate over 11,000 schools across the country, addressing the dire state of structural damages in educational facilities. President Prabowo has allocated a substantial budget for this program, emphasizing the need to provide a safe and conducive environment for all students, especially those in underserved areas.
The government’s unwavering commitment to these programs reflects a holistic approach to secure a brighter future for Indonesia’s children. By addressing nutritional, healthcare, and educational needs, these initiatives play a vital role in fostering a healthy and thriving younger generation.
