Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development, Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, emphasized the importance of parents staying informed about their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities together to avoid addiction to games and gadgets. She highlighted this during the Double Check discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office and Gempita in Jakarta. Isyana stressed the need for parents to keep up with the latest online applications as children tend to learn quickly, warning about the lure of easily accessible dopamine through social media and online games. She endorsed sports and outdoor activities as healthier alternatives to screen time, echoing Veronica Tan’s promotion of the Ruang Bersama Indonesia program. This initiative aims to provide safe spaces for women, children, and communities to empower themselves, engage in traditional games and sports, and steer clear of gadget dependency. Encouraging parents to prioritize physical activities and monitor their children’s online habits, Isyana and Tan underscored the significance of combating addiction and fostering holistic development.
