During the official visit of Peruvian President Dina Boluarte to Indonesia, President Prabowo Subianto fondly recalled the moment when he was honored with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru—the highest recognition bestowed by the Peruvian government—on November 14, 2024. This memory was shared by President Prabowo during a joint press statement at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta, emphasizing the strong diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Peru since 1975.
In return for this prestigious award, President Prabowo presented President Boluarte with Indonesia’s highest honor, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, in recognition of her significant contributions to enhancing bilateral friendship and cooperation. This reciprocal gesture symbolizes the commitment to further deepening the partnership between the two nations in the future.
Furthermore, both governments sealed cooperation agreements in various areas such as narcotics eradication, combatting illicit trade, food security, mining, energy transition, fisheries, and defense. These agreements aim to strengthen collaboration and mutual support between Indonesia and Peru in key sectors of development and security.
