Saimin, an elderly man from Indramayu, West Java, expressed a mix of emotion and pride as he witnessed the lowering of the national flag, the Sang Saka Merah Putih, at Merdeka Palace during Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day commemoration. He mentioned that while he usually watched the ceremony on TV at home, this time he wanted to see it in person at the palace. Saimin praised President Prabowo Subianto, describing him as a leader who is close to the people and cares for those who are struggling. He highlighted the president’s hard work, noting how Prabowo often visits communities across the country, especially those affected by disasters, and works tirelessly for the betterment of society.
During this Independence Day, Saimin also shared his hope for unity among Indonesians, emphasizing the importance of staying united as a nation after 80 years of independence. He urged for an end to internal conflicts and a focus on collaboration and solidarity. As he expressed his gratitude for being invited to the palace by President Prabowo, Saimin’s words reflected his appreciation for the president’s efforts in connecting with the people and striving for the country’s progress.
