Independence Day celebration in Indonesia under President Prabowo Subianto took on a unique and inclusive vibe this year. A total of 60 small business vendors were specially selected and their goods were purchased by the State Palace to be served to guests, majority of whom were members of the public. Street vendors like Wahyu, selling traditional kue apem cakes, expressed their gratitude and happiness for being invited, hoping for more opportunities in the future. Another vendor, selling es doger, was overwhelmed with joy as he stepped into the State Palace for the first time, describing the experience as grand and beyond words.
In a special move, the Palace invited 60 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to provide 30,000 portions of food and drinks free of charge to the public at three key locations within the Palace premises. This gesture allowed many visitors to get up close and personal with the State Palace, providing an extraordinary experience for them. Attendees like @ijoeel shared their excitement on Instagram, highlighting the unexpected openness and fun atmosphere at the Palace during the celebration.
This year’s Independence Day festivities not only symbolized a people’s festival but also showcased a new era of openness at the Palace under President Prabowo. It was a unifying moment where officials, citizens, and street vendors came together in a shared space of celebration and unity.
