The government launched the Free Health Check in Schools (CKG Sekolah) program on August 4, 2025, to provide early health screenings in schools and detect potential health issues among students. Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), emphasized the importance of early detection to prevent future dangers and ensure timely treatment. The program covers all school levels and includes assessments of nutritional status, blood sugar levels, hemoglobin, vision, hearing, and dental health. Healthcare workers from the Pamulang Community Health Center conducted the free health checks at SMA 6 South Tangerang, reaching 1,225 students.
The CKG program not only identifies health problems early but also educates students on healthy habits such as proper dental and ear hygiene, balanced diets, and physical fitness. Hasan Nasbi highlighted the importance of preventive care and encouraging people to visit health centers even when healthy to understand their health risks and adopt better lifestyles. Asnawi Abdullah, Head of the Health Development Policy Agency at the Ministry of Health, stressed the significance of building a foundation of healthy behaviors from an early age through school-based programs.
Schools are considered the gateway to promoting a culture of health, making it easier to instill healthy habits in students than to change adult behavior. The hope is that the health habits learned in schools will carry into adulthood, contributing to a healthier national culture. Participants like tenth-grade student Aryo Gustian Wisesa at SMA 6 South Tangerang expressed excitement about taking part in the health screenings. The CKG program aims to improve the overall health and well-being of students, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and health education in schools.
