Prabowo Outlines Impact of Free Nutritious Meal Program: 290k Jobs, 1M Farmers, Fishers

President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the significant impact of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (Free Nutritious Meal, MBG) program during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta. In just eight months since its inception, the program has already benefitted 20 million recipients, including school-age children, preschoolers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers.

The MBG program has successfully set up 5,800 Nutritional Service Units (SPPG) in 38 provinces, creating 290,000 job opportunities and involving one million individuals in various sectors such as farming, fishing, and small businesses. President Prabowo emphasized that beyond being a social welfare initiative, MBG plays a crucial role in fostering a healthy and productive generation.

The positive outcomes of the program are already evident with increased school attendance and improved academic performance. President Prabowo also highlighted Indonesia’s rapid progress compared to other nations, citing Brazil’s 11-year journey to reach a similar milestone.

The President emphasized the importance of unity and the nation’s potential for achievement when backed by determination. The Annual Session was attended by various state leaders, members of the DPR and Regional Representative Council (DPD), and the entire cabinet, showcasing the broad support for the MBG program’s success.
